This journey traces our electrical power to its source – in three parts.
Disclaimer: Not being an electrical engineer or public utility employee, some values may be slightly different than stated, but should give a general idea of the actual grid and electrical generation. Any “system” or statistical corrections will be most appreciated.
With the exception of the I.P.Generator, the diagram and the uranium ore above, all photos in this series were taken by myself. General information, and those three photos are greatly apprieciatiated and obtained from various sources, including the internet. Additional information about this is available if requested.
As usual, thanks for viewing, and comments are always welcome. M:-)
Thanks, EJ. It was a challange getting this last part out before our cruise, on which I kept thinking of your phrase: “Going Dark!” Because we are cheap, we didn’t opt for the $15 a day WIFI service, so, until we got back, ….6 days of being dark. M 🙂
Thanks. I learned a lot from preparing this – re-kindling some of what I thought I knew, and a lot of clearification of an otherwise vague understanding of where it all comes from. M 🙂
Marty!!! I am in awe of this series you did from toaster to power plant! As you say over & again at the end of each post in the series, you may not be “an electrical engineer or public utility employee,” however, you sure put us all to shame just popping on our appliances & paying our electric bills! The most interest I show is when a tree falls on the electric lines along Rt 202 near our house & RIPS the electric wires OFF MY HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!! My compliments to you on some great articles here! Phil
Thanks, Phil. This was an interesting series to create, giving me an opportunity to figure out the amazing infrastructure we so take for granted. Ripping wires off your house…that must be annoying. Comically, I could see them all being ripped and stripped completely OUT of your house. But since we’re talking about electricity, I’ll give you one more from a while back: http://wp.me/p37YEI-1TH Thanks again, Marty
Very nice trip.

Well done, MV! I learned a lot from your series.
