With my son Steve, daughter Holly, and seven year old grandson Tyler we spent the night in Moab, and were beginning our first full day. Now we were in the heart of the Colorado Plateau (Utah,) one of the most impressive scupltured and gorged terrains in the world.

These 500 foot (150m.) cliffs, right along the river, offer climbers world class rock faces.
A little further, my grandson leads the way to a fallen strata slab exposing nearly 200 million year old dinosaur tracks…AWESOME! Talk about being in his climbing glory!
Further above the tracks, Tyler “discovers” petroglyphs on the cliff faces, and uncle Steve confirms the sighting.

Under a million stars, it took five hours on virtually isolated roads to to reach our stay for the night. It was around 11:00 PM in Bullfrog, an outpost at this time of the year where the sky is virtully void of “light pollution.” This slightly wide angle picture was taken at an exposure to approximate the actual experience. It shows the winter Milky Way. Also the Andromeda Galaxy (M 31,) is visible just right and below center, some two million LY distant. Here, in this dark, moonless sky, naked eye oservers might be able to see another galaxy, elusive M33, which is also in this image, although very faint, just right of center, 1/10 up from bottom. A star cluster known as the “Double Cluster,” is to the left.

Great photos, MV! I’ve been having problems with the WordPress Editor lately, too. It looks like they were upgrading the editor while I was putting up my latest posting yesterday. I have been trying to post larger size photos like you do but it hasn’t been working with the new editor. It looks like they put the old editor back; so I’ll try again.
Doing this was a nightmare, trying to use go around tricks to work with the old editor. You can see I have the “zoom-in” option, but that was not available with what I’m guesing was the new editor. If you have some insights over the next few weeks, let me know. EJ (above) has been very helpful, but i’ll be waiting to see what WP comes up with to more surely satsfy our needs. M 🙁
OK . . . I’ve never used the new editor, I’m still using the old editor (slightly modified from the very old editor, but with the same interface).
I get to it by listing the /wp-admin/ page (the old dashboard) by entering the name of the blog and adding the slash tag above.

On the left side, there is a place where you can click on “Posts”.
It brings up all your posts. As you hover over them, options appear under them, one of them being “Edit”.
Clicking that will bring up the old(er) editor.
I have a post saved called “Seed”. When I want to create a new post, I hit the option “Copy Post” and then choose my Seed post.
As far as entering images, I load them in the size I want them to the library. I then use the editor as I normally would and when I want a picture I choose “Add Media” and pick the photo I want. It’s automatically resized and placed at the location of the cursor.
I normally then click on the paperclip icon and mark the box “open in new window” and save. You don’t have to do that, however, when you click on the paperclip, the box that opens should have the link to the media file.
If it does not, click on the photo and a menu opens up. Click on the pencil icon (edit) and the menu for the picture opens up. There is an item called “link”. Choose the option “media File” and save.
Do a preview of the post and click the photo. it should open the original file. It it doesn’t, the universe is conspiring against you and I can’t help you.

Ed: Just saw your B&W’s of Wilson Arch (3/1/16.) We passed right by on Rt 191 during our 4 day trip, but it was after dark returning to Salt Lake City. I am so inclined to plan yet another trip to Utah, as there is just so much incredible terrain to visit. M 🙂
