A wonderful five mile one-way roadway just east of Gatlinsburg, Tennessee, in the foothills of Mount LeConte, the third highest peak in the Great Smoky Mountains, at 6,923′ (2010 m.) The turn-outs allow access to old growth forest, streams, waterfalls, wildlife and more. Recently, Sandy Paws and I found unexpected tranquility in the resurgence of forest life, ten months after devastating fires scorched the region.

It’s funny you mention this. I have been copying an old post from almost 2 years ago now to start all my new ones, which of course allows zooming. So I figured I’d try the “new” editor, and …there went the zoom. For me, it’s back to to the old editor… How about you? Which editor do you use? M 🙂
I only use the old editor. I can’t think of any good reason for using the new one!
This is a great post and one we like hearing about. Its amazing how devastation can result in rebirth.
Being in NC recently, you might have heard a bit about the fire which destroyed over 500 homes in and around Gatlinsburg last November. It is amazing the town was mostly spared, and back in business in less than a year. M 🙂
Yes we did see on this recent trip down through NC into TN the scars of that event. We were all around Gatlinburg. It is absolutely gorgeous there.
