Thanks, Al. As we’ve been hearing the last few days, it’s had a long history of alteration, and restorations, and so it will again! 🙂
When I saw the news about that fire yesterday, I was horrified. And I still am.
You would think modern prevention techniques would have been sophisticated enough to contain the fire from spreading… but that would be an oversimplification I’m sure! M 🙁
I read somewhere, that not all modern fire prevention measures were possible there, e.g. they couldn’t get sprinklers in everywhere they would have been needed, because they could not drill the necessary holes so as bot to damage structures and/or works of art etc.
I too have wonderful photos.
So sad. Glad I got to see it in person.

Thanks, R! It was sad to see that aggressive destruction in such a very short time, As mentioned above, it’s surprising that whatever fire protection system was in place, if any, couldn’t contain the spreading flames. A lesson to be learned … M
Man, has everyone been there but me? Everyone seems to be posting photos from their visits.
I’m thinking this might be a good time to go because the photos would certainly not be “stock”. Then again, I would probably have to use a long zoom as I understand they’re not letting anyone near the place.
Indeed! Don’t be dissuaded, there are plenty of treasures still intact in Paris. You and M like walking, and I know you would find the P900 or it’s next in line, a adequate carry-along! M 🙂
It’s not a matter of being dissuaded. It’s more like other things take precedence. Maybe we’ll make it there one of these years . . . perhaps when they rebuilt the thing.
