Seaside Heights – Impressive Sky

Recently, on May 20th, the late sunlit clouds over the Atlantic Ocean, were …awesome!

Of note …the actual sunset, a few minutes later, was one of the most dramatic we’ve ever seen. Clicking pictures while driving to the mainland, however,  was not going to happen.

Thanks for viewing and comments are always welcome. M 🙂

  1. Yes, beach erosion control, and controversy, …as the dunes were built up for additional protection, and in good part obstructing the view of the beach and ocean from the boardwalk.

I love skies with big dark clouds. They make for great pictures. Trying to stem beach erosion doesn’t really work. I’ve seen it tried on the outer banks and northern Virginia. The ocean takes back what was taken from it.

I like all the photos except for the ones of the sea grass planted in the enlarged dunes. I really do miss being able to walk along the boardwalk and seeing the ocean waves.

  4. I can’t help but agree that the loss of the open view from the boardwalk is disappoointing, but it is likely that the near total destruction of the boardwalk, and losses incurred by the businesses there-on would not have happened from “Sandy” if these dunes were in place. Viewing areas are being constructed atop the “new” dunes – so as much of a dissappointment it is, it is felt most by those of us who grew up with the view. Change is, in some respects, inevitable. A future solution would be to raise the boardwalk and bussiness 15 feet – a cost not likely to be easily acceptable at the present time. M 🙂
