As a follow-up to my previous post here back in the 1980’s, I departed from Narita Airport in Tokyo on an overnight and almost empty PAN AM 747 to Hawaii. I would meet my wife, Jeanne, as she arrived from New York, where there was a glimpse of the British Airways Concorde Super Sonic Transport, at that time providing regular transatlantic service at over 1300 MPH (~ 2100 kph.)

I always admired the Concorde aircraft. It looked different and it always sounded different.
I had the very exciting pleasure of walking within a couple of metres of one when I visited the Qantas jet base on business in Sydney, about 2003. A thrilling few moments – but I wish I could have gone for a ride in it!
Its demise was sad.
Truth be told, it wasn’t all that great for the people inside, either.
