So . . . how do they get the cranes down after they are done? Helicopters? Dismantle them?
Is there still much building going on?
I guess I’m also not sure how they keep raising them as they add each floor.
I suppose I could look it up . . . but I prefer to imagine a couple of really strong guys just keep lifting them up as each floor is completed.
Crane technology is fascinating. I’ve watched tower cranes being dismantled using a combination of a crew of workers on the gantry and a second crane lowering each section. Not a job for the faint-hearted!
Roger: Thanks for this remarkable set of videos. You have to give it to these guys, working together like totally syncronized ants. And in the case of the images above, they are literally on top of the city. I can only imagine the wind and cold up there during the winter. M 🙂

EJ: From the video below, it looks more like a bunch of really strong guys, synced in remarkable teamwork, just doin’ the job! I never really gave it much thought until now.

What had me perplexed (and how it looks in many photos) is that it appears the cranes are mounted on the top-most floor being constructed instead of being a separate tower on the side of the building.
I never looked into it before but now it makes sense (but is still impressive).
