Completed in 1909, and located on Madison Ave, NYC, the Metropolitan Life Tower was the tallest building in the world until 1913. Elements of a few of its intriguing designs were photographed by me a few years ago from nearby Madison Park. My son Steve and I, with several hundred people, were enjoying a wonderful concert there with singer/songwriter Lucy Kaplanski …until the in-ground watering sprinklers popped up and activated, in some cases under people’s blankets.

Oh wow- I LOVE Lucy Kaplanski. I am also a fan of John Gorka who she used to sing with on some of his songs. Beautiful capture of the Met Life tower- and what a story with the sprinklers! 🙂
Why do I not know this building??? Geeze gotta do some research, heading to the city in a few weeks want to take a look at the “watering tower” 🙂
Wikipedia has good info about the fascinating history of this building including the large clock seen above, in the 2nd image. I believe there are identical clocks on each side. Thanks for the comment. M 🙂
