Color My World… A “Retrospectic” Snippet

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Exposure, lighting, shadows and geometry. The “algorithm” of the digital camera and the “mind” of the observer. That and more,  all play a part in what we ‘see’ in an image. In this case a glimpse back ten years from our family room, contrasting with the hall (wallpaper long since gone) and the “office.”

From the “office,” apologies for creating new words,

1958 Thunderbird – This Guy’s First Car

05-01-65-new-milford-cars-in-driveway-date-approx-3-version-2

Seventeen came with the privilege to drive –  a legal license for  liberation, freedom, wondrous opportunities to explore with friends or a date, and a major lifestyle advantage. But it would take 20 months before I would actually buy my very own car, a  1958 Thunderbird.

Unfortunatly with this particular great looking coupe, I had quickly become owner of an aging, poorly maintined chasis with unsettling grinding sounds, clunks and bumps and  serious (expensive) mechanical failures deemed likely. Bought relativelty inexpensively  for $500, partly financed by my older brother, I parted unscathed with a slight profit a month later.

But for those few springtime days of happily cleaning and waxing …while ambitious aspirations and fanciful daydreams played along with its radio, this beautiful classic car was mine.

I wish I had it today.

DSC_0548DSC_0654DSC_0643DSC_0550DSC_0660DSC_0637DSC_0675DSC_0620 - Version 2Located in NW New Jersey, Frogg Falls Railroad is the dream and inspiration of our lifelong friends, who have transformed a part of their property to a magical, fully functional garden railroad, complete with a wide assortment of “rolling stock,”  handmade scale structures complemented by remarkable “to scale” living landscaping,  and a Koi and frog populated pond with waterfalls.

The Woods and The Snow

DSC_0606DSC_0050

Whose woods these are I think I know. (mine)
His house is (…behind me) though;
He will not see me stopping here (?)
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

Images taken 10/13/15 and today, 2/5/16.

Christmas Eve Romance? You Can’t Make This Stuff Up!

DSC_0348

This morning, Christmas Eve 2015, I sighted these reindeer (ok maybe not REINDEER!) right in our backyard. The one above sported a really nice set of antlers.

Just off to the right, was another, apparently eyeing the first.

Male, Female – whatever. Before I knew it they were drawing closer. (Important note here: Female REINDEER do have antlers. You, the viewer can draw any gender or breed conclusions you want! DSC_0358

The rest speaks for itself, although I’m not sure what was being said! DSC_0359

They parted ways shortly after, seemingly quite content with their supposedly romantic encounter. Maybe this amorous behavior was sparked by the very unusual warm, spring-like weather  here in New Jersey.

None the less… Ho! Ho! Ho, what a sight, and watch for these two ….in the sky tonight
